  About ELSA Republic of Macedonia

STEP S&C AA

ELSA Republic of Macedonia was founded on September the 5th 1997 in Skopje, by a group of young and enthusiastic law students. At the very beginnings, ELSA Republic of Macedonia was intended to be an independent, non-political and non-governmental organization, which will be completely oriented towards its members. The founders imagined ELSA Republic of Macedonia as a certain type of service for the students of the Law School and a window to Europe and it’s opportunities. Like every beginning, ELSA's was a modest one, but very important. It all started with the organization of few small seminars and tribunes, which had their purpose to help the graduating students to find an easier way to a working place. But, as the time went on, ELSA Republic of Macedonia started to broaden its contacts, credibility and influence among the students as well as among the teacher from the Law School.
At the same time, some efforts were made in order to obtain ELSA Republic of Macedonia with a more active presence on international level. At the International Council Meeting, held in Opatia, Croatia in 1998, ELSA Republic of Macedonia was recognized as a full member of ELSA International.
ELSA Republic of Macedonia exists for seven years and it is the only organization that has been accepted on international level under the constitutional name of the country, Republic of Macedonia. And we are very proud with this achievement since we have a wide reputation in our international executive body – ELSA International. ELSA Republic of Macedonia is a unique organization. From the several NGO's that function at the Law Faculty, ELSA is the only one that exists especially for the needs of the law students on legal and political sciences. It gives them an opportunity to gain experience, on national and international level. This activity asks for bigger efficiency and stamina of the managing roles in the association. There for, ELSA must dedicate more time for the perpetual training and education of its executive bodies, which will, of course, result in the enlargement of the productivity of the association as a hole.
ELSA represents the starting point in the process of building the carrier of a future lawyer. Through the co-operation with other governmental and non-governmental organizations, ELSA is investigating the opportunities for possible work places for it's members and allows them to finish the Law Faculty with maximal knowledge and practical information for their future profession.
The problem of the shortage of working place that was becoming a serious problem for the organization has been already solved because the working intensity was increased. The members of ELSA are focusing their energy towards increasing the level of constructive activities, and more efficient working plan.
