Lecture “Introduction to Humanitarian law” 29 May, 2007, organized in cooperation with OSCE Spillover Monitor Mission to Skopje and the ICRC (International Committee for Red Cross)

 International Seminar “Social and cultural rights-Third generation of human rights”, 4-6 May, 2007, where 40 participants from Macedonia and other countries were attended the seminar.

Second part of the study visit with ELSA Belgrade. 5 students from Skopje were introduced to Serbian culture and their way of studying (March 2007)

Training “Law 4 U”( for law students about practical legal skills, organized by Elsa Republic of Macedonia and AEGEE Skopje. Each training was attended by 40-50 participants from the Law Faculty, but also from other Faculties.)

  • 2006

1.   Tribune on the subject: Judicial reforms in Republic of Macedonia. Participants: Ms.Lence Sofronievska- President of the State Judicial Council, Mr. Dragan Tumanovski- Judge in the High Court of R.M and Mr.Ernst Borunda- Judge in the High Court of United States of America.

2.   October we realized a study visit with ELSA Belgrade. 5 students from Belgrade were introduced to our culture and our way of studying, so this was besides academic and cultural experience.

3.   International conference on the subject: “Discrimination in the modern society – Guaranties and legal methods against discrimination”. It was held from 31 October - 3 November in Mavrovo. We had 70 participants from Macedonia and Europe. Lecturers were:

  • 2005

1.   Brochures on 3 different topics (Decentralization, Citizenship and Judicial reforms). Due to financial problems the brochures are not published yet;

2.   Possibility for the members of ELSA R. Macedonia to be involved in the practical work of the courts, public prosecutor, lawyers, and etc. 20 members of ELSA R. Macedonia had the opportunity to work in the courts and in the public prosecutors office for 3 months. While their practical work they gained knowledge and experience that they can use before and after graduation.

3.   International Conference on the topic “The European Constitutions – Equal Fundamental Rights for all European Citizens” was realized in April 2005. 70 students from Macedonia and other European countries took part in the 5 lectures organized on different topic concerning the European Constitution.

4.   In December 7, study visit, students from ELSA Ljubljana were our guests for one week. During the seven days they had the opportunity to visit public institutions, the Parliament, The Law Faculty, Faculty of Economics and the Private European Faculty. They also visited the historical and cultural monuments in Skopje.

  • 2004

1.   In march this year we started long term cooperation with the Women’s Lawyer Association ,,TEMIS”. Twenty of our members were trained in the field of Women Trafficking and afterwards they were present at trials regarding this topic.

2.   In October we successfully organized the International conference, “The Interethnic Confidence – A key factor for integration in the society”. 75 Macedonian and European students took part in the four day discussions and debates, and shared their experiences and knowledge on the mentioned topic.

 3.   In December we made study visit with ELSA Ljubljana, Slovenia. 7 students from ELSA R.M. were welcomed in Ljubljana for one week. During those seven days they visited important educational, political and cultural institutions and took part in a conference organized by ELSA Ljubljana. The students from ELSA Ljubljana will visit ELSA R. Macedonia in April 2005.   

  • 2003

 1.  We have continued with the organization of our biggest project the International Conference named ''Diplomacy and diplomatic skills-Peaceful conflict resolution’’. The main goals of this Conference were the following:

    • Introducing young people with the diplomatic skills in order to equip the people with the necessary tools for their future professional life in an international environment;
    • Pointing out the advantages of the multi-cultural environments;
    • Raising the knowledge about conflicts-their background, their sources, types;
    • Raising the level of consciousness about the real meaning of diplomacy;
    • Promoting the Transcend method as an alternative way of conflict resolution.

This project was mainly aimed towards the students of law, the legal community, and non-governmental sector. The conference was held in Ohrid from 17 to 20 of April 2003.

  • 2002

1.   The year 2002 has started with organizing a one-day seminar on a subject: '' The corruption in the Republic of Macedonia and mechanisms for its prevention". It was held on the Law Faculty and turn out to be very successful because there were a lot people who came to participate on this public debate and also all of the media were present.

  • 2001

1.   Two tribunes were organized with the following topics:

    • Euthanasia – Charity or Murder and South Eastern Europe
    • How from a Source of Conflicts to a Factor of Stability in Europe.

Both of them were very well attended as by the Students of the Law School as by the broader public. The speakers were eminent experts from several renowned Macedonian institutions.

2.   At the end of February year 2001, ELSA Republic of Macedonia published the first issue of the Students' Informative Newsletter called Justitia.The first issue of Justitia was published in 300 copies, which turned out to be not enough for covering the entire student body from the Law School. Justitia covers a wide spectrum of topics related to the student life and their status and rights at the Law School. The publishing of this Newsletter is determined as ELSA's strategic goal, and we are trying to publish it continuously.

 3.   In the frames of the project Public Legal Education we have published five more brochures on subjects such as:
- ‘’Advocacy’’;
- ‘’Women trafficking’’;
- ‘’The freedom and rights of the minorities in the Republic of Macedonia’’;
- ‘’European court for human rights ‘’;
- ‘’Constitutional Court’’.

These five brochures were translated and published on Albanian language and we are also planning to translate and publish them on the other languages of the minorities in Republic of Macedonia.

  • 2000

 

 1.   In May 2000, ELSA achieved its, maybe most important project. That was the Pan European Conference, which was held in Ohrid from the 12th to the 15th of May, on an official topic: “Euro Atlantic Integration of the Southeastern European Countries”. The Conference was attended by more than 80 participants from all over Europe. The speakers were eminent experts from several international and domestic institutions, such as: NATO, the Council of Europe, the Law School in Skopje, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Macedonia. This manifestation was organized with the co-operation of the American Bar Association – Central and East European Law Initiative (ABA-CEELI); The NATO Civilian Liaison Office in Macedonia; The Information and Documentation Center of the Council of Europe etc.


2.   From the 25th to the 27th of December 2000, in Mavrovo, ELSA in co-operation with the Macedonian Helsinki Committee organized a seminar with the topic: “Law and the Human Rights”. Several experts from the Law School in Skopje, the Macedonian Helsinki Committee, and the Institute for Sociological, Political and Juridical Research gave lectures and answered questions. The Seminar was attended by a number of twenty students from the Law School.

 

  • 1999

 
1.   During the year 1999, the members of ELSA worked on a project, which was of a great importance to the association. That was the Public Legal Education project, which was realized through the publishing of six interesting and popular brochures that elaborated the following topics:

    • Notary – A New Institution in the Macedonian Legal System;
    • The Organization of the Macedonian Courts;
    • Child Support and Alimentation;
    • The Ombudsman – Who He is and What Does he Do;
    • The Rights of the Accused;
    • The New Law on Citizen Associations and Foundations.
